What the agency bought
The primary objective of this work under Solicitation Number N3943026R5001 is to establish a scientifically sound methodology to quantify and evaluate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) distributions in precipitation, ambient fog water, and ambient soils at multiple active U.S. Navy installations. Ultimately, this study aims to assess how atmospheric deposition (via rain and fog) contributes to PFAS concentrations found in surface soils, and to determine the ideal sample sizes needed to calculate reliable background threshold values (BTVs) for future Navy-wide environmental investigations.
